Cosmetic Countouring

Patients with strong healthy teeth that have minor discolorations, chips and cracks can greatly benefit from cosmetic contouring. Dental contouring is the process of reshaping teeth which are damaged by altering the shape, length and position of the teeth. Contouring is a quick and painless procedure that does not even require anesthesia and can be completed in as little as one visit.

The dentist first marks the patient 's teeth with a pencil to use as a guide. After marking the teeth, a sanding drill or laser is used to shape the surface of the tooth by gradually removing enamel. Sometimes the dentist will use abrasive strips to sand the area between teeth. Once they have been reshaped, the teeth are smoothed and polished to a bright finish.

Once the procedure is complete, no special care is required. Patients can resume their typical routine of brushing and flossing to maintain their new smile.
